Job Summary

Defense Logistics Agency (DLA) is a part of the Department of Defense (DOD)and the JETS contract is in support of the DLA Information Operations J6, it is the Agency’s knowledge broker, providing comprehensive, best practice Information Technology (IT) support to the DOD and DLA Business Community resulting in high quality information systems, customer support, efficient and economical computing, data management, electronic business, and telecommunications services.

Responsibilities and Duties

Daily activities:

Analyzes and develops telecommunications networks supporting a wide range of capabilities, including voice, data, video, and/or wireless services. Develops designs and plans for installation and maintenance of telecommunications systems from project inception to conclusion. Analyzes the problem and the characteristics of the information to be transported. Defines the problem and develops system requirements and network specifications. Closely coordinates with other information system professionals to ensure proper implementation of network services. In conjunction with functional users, develops alternative solutions and backup plans.

Roles and team dynamics:

The Telecommunications Engineer – Basic will be a full-time, direct hire for BMA and will be working on the DLA JETS program and is an onsite position

Qualifications and Skills

Serious applicants must possess:

  • One (1) year of experience in that field.
  • Three (3) years of experience in Local or Wide Area Networks
  • Clearance: TBD
  • Experience in telecommunications network design and management.
  • Alternate qualification: an AA degree in electrical, electronics, or systems engineering with at least eight (8) years of experience, of which four (4) years must be related to telecommunications systems/network.
